The history of the Igbos and their forbears can be estimated to go back thousands of years. Europeans began to visit the Delta of Nigeria towards the end of the fifteenth century. However most historical books deals with less than a hundred years of Igbo history. But thanks to archaeological findings, the observation of the European visitors, and the oral traditions of the Igbo people, our history is estimated to go back four thousand years. >>
